How Are Personal Emergency Response Systems Monitored?

If you've been considering a personal emergency response system, or PERS, you've probably have many questions you'd like to have answered before you make your purchase. One of the most common things prospective customers ask us about is our monitoring service.

Any PERS provider should have a way to connect your loved one to emergency assistance. If they press the button on their medical alert pendants, a call will be placed to a monitoring station. These centers are staffed around the clock with specially trained staff who know how to best respond to medical or other types of emergencies. If they determine that medical attention is needed, they will call 911 and have help sent to your loved one's home as quickly as possible. If they answer the call and receive no response from your loved one, they will automatically call emergency personnel.

When you register for PERS service, you'll also be asked to provide the names of emergency contacts. If the button on the medical alert pendant is pressed and paramedics are dispatched, the monitoring station will notify these relatives or friends so they are aware of the situation.

Comporium Alert uses a local monitoring station to assist our customers. When the medical alert pendant is activated, your loved one will be able to speak with local people in a matter of seconds. They'll be ready to listen and help however they can. Call (803) 327-7233 today to speak to a representative about our personal emergency response system or to sign up for service.
