It is highly recommended to have a telephone professional install and RJ-31x jack and confirm that your home is capable of line seizure.
What Is Line Seizure and Why Is It Important?
Line seizure is the process of disconnecting the telephone in your home so that your Medical Alert system can then take over the phone line to make the call to the central station. It “seizes” the line. Your Medical Alert system, out of the box, supports line seizure for the phone that is connected to it. If the phone that is plugged into the back of the base station is off the hook, the Medical Alert system will be able to seize the line and place a call to the central station in the event of an emergency.
What If A Different Phone Is Off the Hook?
If someone is on another phone in the home, or maybe the other phone was accidentally never hung-up? Line seizure through the base station will not be able to seize the phone line unless the entire home’s phone wiring is rewired for line seizure.
